Jesus Christ

John the Baptist holding onto the wrist of Jesus Christ, whom he has just immersed in the waters of the River Jordan that surround them.
It was during his mortal ministry that he ordained his twelve apostles and set up the organization that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has today. He taught that revelation would be the foundation of the church, and that is what is taught today in his church.
During Christ's lifetime he established his church here on the earth. Especially during his mortal ministry during the last few years of his life, he established his doctrine, taught the principles of the gospel, and set the example for all to know what they needed to do to gain eternal life with our Father in Heaven.
From Christ's example, we know that we can someday return to live with our Heavenly Father, as we follow in Christ's footsteps and study his life and teachings, we will improve and become more like him. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have based their teachings on Jesus Christ, as the center of the gospel, since it has been restored.
