The Restoration of Christ's Church

During Jesus Christ's lifetime, he established his church and his teaching here on the earth. After his death, and after the death of his apostles, his gospel was lost over time as people changed it and reorganized into many different churches.
Many hundreds of years later, there were many churches on the earth, and there was a boy named Joseph Smith that did not know which church to join. He studied the Bible regularly with his family and by himself, and once he came across James 1:5, which says, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." Joseph understood that if he prayed with a sincere heart, he would receive an answer to his question as to what church he should join.
When he prayed, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him to tell him that none of the church on earth had the full gospel that Christ had established during his ministry. God then lead Joseph throughout his life to understand that he would be a prophet of Christ's church, and that God would restore Christ's church here upon the earth today through him.
Through a series of events, and with the help of many people, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was established on the earth. Today we experience many blessings for having the church here on earth, and having a fullness of Christ's gospel available to us.
In order to understand these events and the people who helped in this restoration, this site has been created as a basic description of key events and important people. Feel free to visit Mormon.org or lds.org for more information.
